While our primary focus has been ghosts, hauntings, poltergeists and other paranormal phenomena, I have always had an interest in Bigfoot and other "cryptid" animals. I have spent time over the years learning about Bigfoot as my interest in paranormal investigation and backpacking collided. I have always loved the outdoors and have made frequent trips to southern Ohio and eastern Pennsylvania to backpack and hike. I've been curious about investigating Bigfoot for years and finally decided to pursue it in 2008.

I attempted to contact several Bigfoot investigation sites all over Ohio and was met with minimal effort. I felt that building a new group might be a good effort, but I decided to attempt to work with another group first. I ended up contacting the Sasquatch Research Initiative and was able to become a researcher/investigator for them. My first case was about 20 miles south of where I live and provided some surprising evidence. I am very excited to be investigating these potential animals in Ohio since there is strong evidence that they may exist in this state.

Based upon what I have seen in Ohio with researchers I began evolving the idea of creating another group similar to O.P.I.N. (or branch) that will allow investigators to join. Most of the groups in Ohio are closed to new researchers. I don't understand why. I have over a dozen years of researching and interviewing skills of strange subjects as well as investigating using various methods, not to mention my hiking, backpacking and sign knowledge, but I can't even work work with guys who are learning about the subject themselves. I am also considering starting an Ohio database for Cryptid sightings (mainly Bigfoot) for the public. For the mean time I will enjoy adding to the database of S.R.I. and even after forming a group I would still add to their knowledge since they are an open minded group of true investigators.

Ohio Cryptid is born. A new place for researchers, investigators, witnesses and those who have interest in the cryptid field in the state of Ohio to gather and share information. I first created a Blog for Ohio Cryptid to start things off. I would like to keep the blog as a way for those who wish to write about their work, knowledge or experiences about this field. If you wish to add a blog you can either submit your own blog address or let me know and I will add you to the Ohio Cryptid blog. After creating the blog I began working on a new website, but I also created the next best thing: a social networking site on Ning.com. The goal is to create an open-source network of researchers, investigators and witnesses to cryptid events. We hope to create a network in order to share evidence and sighting information as well as to spread positive awareness about this subject in the state of Ohio.
